Ten Ping “News”… Victorian “Blues”…and some Julie “Views”

Just a quick update…whenever a person waiting for a doll gets an email that their doll has been shipped out IT’S A BIG DEAL. Am I right??? I got one of those emails today… Ten Ping is on her way to my house, from Texas, and she’s supposed to be here Monday!!! Too bad I don’t have her outfit finished, but maybe I’ll just make one of “MY” patterns and hope it fits her. I haven’t touched the tunic since I showed it to you the other night.

I checked all the dealers who carry this little Ruby Red Galleria sweetheart and they are all sold out, but you can still get one at Ruby Red Galleria itself. HERE is the page with Ten Ping on it if you’d like to consider her…

This is Ten Ping in case you missed all the buzz…

Well, that was the Ten Ping News… now on to the Victorian Blues.

I told you earlier my Samantha was a bit on the broad shouldered side and I really never bonded with her. I found some pictures in my archives where she’s not looking too much like she has football shoulder pads on under her dress. I picked out a few blue dresses and thought you might enjoy seeing them.

Don’t forget to check out the “views” of Julie’s 70’s dress on Ebay. She’s pretty cute looking in it… Here’s are a couple of photos…

Hope you enjoyed this News and Blues and Views post!

See you tomorrow,

  1. Jeanne, I have only a short time on the computer, today is babysitting day and I have to put up all my doll things so my little grandson won’t get to them, but I share your excitement on getting Ten-Ping! Too bad Sunday is in the mix! That always happens to me too, when I buy something and then a holiday or Sunday is right there!

Oh, your Samantha dresses are just lovely! So much better than the AG new BeForever , although I did get her ‘Special Dress” for Cecile. I love those dropped waistlines on the dresses.

    1. HI Linda,
It sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you with babysitting. Now..if you had a little granddaughter, I bet you’d be playing dolls with her! Have fun…

Yes, it’s too bad about that Sunday being in the way, but that’s okay… I need to stay busy until Monday anyway.
Thanks for your sweet comments on Samantha’s dresses. Maybe if I had a different doll, I would like her fashions better, but I just never got into her and I really thought I would.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. All of Samantha’s dresses are so pretty, I think my favorite is the light blue dress with the pink bows. Since Ten Ping was sold out I purchased Jar-Lu one of the Four Kindergartners. She has similar hair style as Ten Ping and looks very sweet. She is on the way to my house from MD. See what you started Jeanne! LOL

    1. Hi Regina,
You probably picked my favorite one too. It looked pretty decent on her.
I almost got a Jar Lu myself and think she is very pretty. Another subscriber here, got Jar Lu and she said she’s great. I emailed Ruby Red Galleria and asked if the “Kindergarten” dolls were the same face sculpt as Ten Ping or was it different. They told me they are all made from the same face sculpt…it’s just the different ways they paint them that makes them look different. I was totally surprised at that. They do a great job of individualizing these dolls. I can’t wait for mine to get here… are you excited too?
Sorry that I enabled you, but hey… a doll lover’s gotta do what a doll lover’s gotta do!!
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. Hi Jeanne, yes I am excited to get my Jar Lu! I have already been looking for shoes for her. *Smile*

          1. I got my Ten Ping doll for Christmas. I think she is a darling. I think my doll was the first one of the series. The story that came with her said that her mother made her dress for her birthday. It is like a little pinafore with a blouse underneath–it doesn’t look Oriental. I think all of the dolls have a story with them. I also got a Samantha doll for Christmas–I haven’t bonded with her yet. Her hair is different than I thought it would be, and her dress doesn’t look like something she would wear at her time. I think I need to make something for her. Jeannie, I hope you enjoy your Ten Ping. I know you will make something darling for her–in no time at all.

          2. Hi Diana,
My Ten Ping is supposed to be here on Monday. I’ll be stalking the mailbox for sure! I am very excited this new little cutie is coming to live with me. I know which Ten Ping you got and she is a real cutie. Can you tell me what size shoes you have gotten for her. I thought her foot was the size of Riley’s, but I’ve checked an it’s not. Are there any dolls on Ebay that have the same size foot as Ten Ping? Inquiring minds want to know! :o)
            Thanks Diana,
            Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, congratulations on acquiring a Ten Ping !! She sure is darling. It will be fun to see you master the sewing techniques need to make her a full wardrobe.
Of course, you know I love this dress for Julie. She is a basket of spring flowers and will look a sweet as can be at the wedding. I hope they have a dance at the reception so she can swing that dress !!! Memories ……………………………..

    1. HI Jeannie,
Yes, there’ll be a reception and you can “relive” that moment when you swung around in YOUR dress many years ago!
      Thanks Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Jeanne, if Samantha’s shoulders are too broad, remember her body is cloth and you could probably fix that! I love the blue dress with the eyelet and silk ribbon trim on the bodice! Do you have any idea how many dresses you have made for American Girl?

    1. HI Jevne,
Well, her shoulders may have been able to be made narrower, but I have long since sold her, so it doesn’t matter now. I think it was a combination of her wide shoulders and her very short neck that bugged me. She just always seemed out of proportion to me somehow.

I did a post a while back and had how many dresses I had sold for all my dolls. As of January 2015, I had sold 834 dresses, but I’ve sold a few in 2015, so I’m up to 847 I think as of now. I didn’t break them down to American Girl dresses, alone, so I’m not sure how many AG dresses I’ve actually sold… BUT A LOT!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Hello Jeanne,
Samantha’s dresses are so cute. The one with the lace bodice and pin is my favorite.
It is exciting to get a new doll like your Ten Ping. She will be tired of traveling by the time she reaches your home.
I recently got Ruthie who now has a different name and I am planning on getting two other dolls from AMG that will become one custom doll by our friend on Ebay. Dolls are so much fun.
Last year I was a secret fairy godmother to a little girl who wanted an AMG doll so much but couldn’t afford one. I sent an AMG doll and many clothes and accessories. It made one little girl so happy and my heart soar.
    Have a great day!

    1. HI Paula,
Thanks for your kind comments. It wasn’t until after I had my post done, that I realized the first two Samantha dresses were made of the same fabric. They look a little different, but it’s the same…
I can’t wait to see what customized beauties you end up with. That lady is one fantastic “customizer” in my opinion.
What a very sweet gesture for the little girl you blessed a doll with. She’ll never forget you! I know you were blessed too! What a wonderful thing to do.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. Oh my goodness….almost 900 dresses! I’m glad you took lots of pictures..they are all so darn cute! I received a really sweet one for my LD #3 for the Spring swap …so I’m in the mood to make a dress for the LD’s..Now to just do it but really need to work in the garden!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. HI Kathie,
It sounds like a big number…847…but when I think about it, it doesn’t seem like that many. There are some sellers who have something listed almost every single day. I don’t know how they do it…I can’t!
I think a Little Darling is next on my list…if Ten Ping doesn’t get here too soon.
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. I received the email yesterday too that Ten Ping was mailed. Can’t wait to open the box. I have a few clothes that will fit.

My first impression on my AG doll was the football shoulders too or maybe she would be a good linebacker. I think the catalogs show the miracle of photography. Two of myAG dolls were given as gifts, one to an adult. There is no way her husband would have understood her want or need for a doll.

    1. Hi Jan,
Are you one of the Jan’s that left a nice comment on Ruby Red Galleria’s facebook page? There were comments from 2 different Jan’s. If you were one of them, thank you very much! I really appreciate that!
I can’t wait to get my box either. I am really looking forward to seeing this little cutie. I don’t think I have a thing for her. I sold all my Riley shoes so I have nothing in the shoe department.
What a nice thing to do to give another woman one of your dolls. I bet she cried!
      Blessings, Jeanne

      1. I may have left a comment. My Ten Ping arrived today. The outer box was squashed but Lone Star placed popcorn around the shipper so that is in good shape. I’m waiting for my husband to photograph Ten Ping in her quilted cover. It zips up the front, a nice touch.

        1. HI Jan,
So happy your Ten Ping arrived safely. Actually mine arrived today too! It was pretty exciting for me… and I bet you too!
Yes, the little white quilted bag is very sweet!
          Blessings, Jeanne

  8. P.S
I mailed the AG doll to a daughters sil. I heard back she did cry. The doll was Addy and she loves her. I don’t think her daughters cared for AG dolls. My doll Samantha went to a cousins girl. She decided to collect dolls later. I would make clothing to add to Samantha’s wardrobe. I love the accessories for the dolls. Wish I had a closet full.

    1. Jan, I was sure she would cry! What a nice gift to give to her! That was very sweet of you.
      Blessings, Jeanne
