Ten Ping follows her other Asian “sisters” with her “Debut Outfit…”

I’m sorry for those of you totally uninterested in Ten Ping, but just put up with this post and maybe I’ll switch gears for a while. It’s just that she’s new and she happens to be so incredibly cute!

I think I may have a “thing” for Asian dolls. I’ve owned quite a few and now I’ve bought another one. Let me tell you what I mean. My first Asian doll was Song, a 14″ doll from Helen Kish, in the Chrysalis Collection. I had her for maybe 2 years, but thought she sort of lost her popularity so I sold her and she went to live in England. This was her “debut” outfit…

If you click on any picture it will enlarge.

A while after I had her, I made this dress from the same print for her. She looked awfully pretty in it, but my pictures were pretty crummy…

While I still had Song, I decided she needed a little sister, so I got An Mei. She was an 8″ doll by Helen Kish and was a very tiny doll to sew for. This was her “debut” outfit…

I sold An Mei a short time after Song left. I never really cared for An Mei’s eyes.

Then a few years ago, I saw this little cutie on Ebay, named Lian and she absolutely stole my heart. I won her and she’s been here and isn’t going ANYWHERE! This was her “debut” dress…

Now….if you’ve been paying attention, you’ve surely noticed that each of my Asian dolls “debut” outfits were made out of the same bright purple and pink fabric. So…it only made sense that Ten Ping’s “debut” outfit would have to be made out of it too…and it was. Would you like to see what I came up with for Ten Ping?

I had to make some little shoes for her to match her new dress. They were so tiny to work with.

Well, do you like it?

It is listed on Ebay and is a 5 day auction. It will end Saturday night, so don’t plan any out of town trips or any date nights with your hubby. :o)

You can find it by clicking HERE, or go to picture at the right side bar and click on it. You’ll be taken directly to the listing.

Thanks for letting me share with you,

See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne

  1. How very sweet that little outfit is! I love it! And that hat—-is it a circle of felt? How clever it is and it just makes the outfit one of a kind! Where DO you get your ideas Jeanne? Those pinks and purples are just the thing for the Asian dolls, especially in the spring! Even though I don’t collect these tiny dolls, I love to see what others have and collect. After all—they’re DOLLS!

    1. Hi Linda,
Thanks for liking Ten Ping’s outfit! Her hat is sort of an oblong piece of felt. I just sort of pinched the felt up a few different ways and decided this way looked right… I hope it works… Yes, dolls are dolls and they are all fun to see…
Blessings to you Linda, I hope your day is as bright and sunshiny as ours is…just a bit cool…
      But nice!

    1. Thank you Christine,
I appreciate your kind comment… I think she’s adorable too.

  2. Ten Ping looks so happy in her brand new dress set. She’s really holding on tight to that little bear too. I really like her in bright colors; they look so perfect with her dark hair. Is her hat style a traditional style? It is very pretty. The little sandals are so very tiny and cute too. You created the perfect debut outfit for her. Bravo! Thanks for sharing her with us.

    1. Hi Cindy,
Thanks so much for your kind words about Ten Ping’s new dress set. Like I told Linda, her hat was just a piece of felt I was scrunching up and decided this was the look I wanted. I sat it on her head and said, “yes, this will do fine.”
      Thanks so much,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. I love Ten Ping’s outfit.. she looks so adorable! I have a thing for Asian dolls too. I don’t collect the larger dolls, but I too love to see what you create for them.

    1. Thanks so much Regina,
It was fun coming up with her first outfit. She likes it too!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Ten Ping is very cute and her outfit is adorable and so perfect from top to bottom. Her hat is so sweet. I couldn’t help but notice her little slippers. They are too cute. So tiny! You did a beautiful and creative outfit.
I have to say my favorite is Lian. She is just adorable. I hope to get her one day after I catch up with all the AMGs. Lian’s face, to me, is the best Asian face ever. I too love Asian dolls.
    Blessings!

    1. HI Paula,
Thank you for all your kind words about my doll outfit for Ten Ping AND Lian. Yep, she’s my favorite Asian doll to date and will probably stay at the top slot forever. Her face is what sold me on her… I just HAD to win her when she was up for auction on Ebay.
      Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, I am happy to see Ten Ping in a “happy” outfit. It makes her look so much more cheerful. I love that print with all its bright cheery colors. I can see why you have made each of your girls a dress out of it.
I am going to have to buy some Asian style fabric for my Ten Ping. I looked through my stash that there is not a thing in there that is suitable. The print you used really give me the idea to go with a bright flowery style. This will be fun!

    1. Hi Jeannie,
Oh I’m so happy to have inspired you to make something. I had to follow suit and make her one out of this fabric too. You’re going to love her and Katie Beth and Maddie (?) will love her. They’re going to think she’s the cutest little thing ever!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  6. I’m so happy to see Ten Ping dressed in something different than what is available on ebay. I’m really a little tired of seeing that same pattern used over and over.
I really enjoyed seeing all your Asian dolls dressed in the same gorgeous print. I agree about An Mei’s eyes. Ten Ping has beautiful eyes. Good luck with your auction!

    1. Thanks so much Jevne,
Ten Ping likes her new dress set. She doesn’t know that it’s not hers to keep… but she’ll soon learn. I hope your Ten Ping comes tomorrow…your eyes will be glued to the mailbox I’m sure.
      Blessings, Jeanne

    1. Thank you Jan,
It’s kind of fun to see them all in a row, isn’t it?
      Blessings, Jeanne

  7. Oh your little Lian is probably one of the cutest ones Asian dolls. I have several from my son’s world travels but none as sweet as Lian. One he hand carried home so that one is very special. I’d order a Ten Ping except she’s just too sad. I agree she seems happier in her new dress though! Awesome job! Did you ever get that tricky top figured out?
    TTYL

    1. HI Kathie,
I’m a bit partial to Lian too! She is up at the top of my list too!
I don’t think Ten Ping is TOO sad, but maybe just a little bit. She’s just afraid because her mom left her in charge of her brother and sisters and went to work on Hong Kong…
No, that top is still unfinished… it may never get finished, now that I’ve made her debut outfit of the fabric.
      Thanks Kathie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
