Do you remember back in December when I got a box from my sister packed with pink and green fabrics? HERE is that post…Well, if you recall, Lian had picked out a pretty pink and black houndstooth check fabric from the box that she wanted a dress made out of. I saw it on my shelf this evening and thought, “oops, I totally forgot about that dress for Lian…” So I thought I’d make good on my promise to her. (I’m a bit behind on some fabrics that a few of my subscribers have sent me too.) Oops again…
I was tired today so I took a long nap and didn’t get very far on Lian’s dress, but I’ll show you the beginnings of it.
Then you’ll have to use your imaginations and guess how you think I’ll finish it…hopefully I’ll get it finished tomorrow…
Have a wonderful start to this new week…and hey, bring back the sunshine! I’ve had enough gloomy days for awhile!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne. Hopefully you have sunshine today too. Last week was horribly gloomy for us, so we are hoping that this is a sunny week. You too? It looks like Lian was starting to bug you about getting something new. She will be very happy with her new dress.
BTW, the flower girl dresses turned out adorable. You made both of them in a day? Wow! The way you matched up the print in the back (with the zipper there, too) is perfection. Those little girls will steal the show. You will have to show us a picture…
With the sun shining this morning it really felt like a fresh, new start. I hope we can all have a VERY productive week!
Hi Cindy,
Well the sun is shining here too! It’s a bit nippy, but it’s very nice and not gloomy at all!!!
Yes, Lian has Ten Ping sitting beside her and I think I was getting “the look” from Lian…if you know what I mean!!
Thanks for your compliments on the little flower girl dresses. I’m glad they turned out like they did! I wasn’t too sure in the beginning when I first saw that big print, but now that they are done, I think they look sweet.
I will most definitely show some pictures of them at the wedding.
I’m hoping for a productive week…and hope you have one too.

That is the start of such a cute dress…I can see why you have both colors of trim . I don’t know which one I would use ?! Did you make the faux lace-up trim or is it part of something larger? Either way it’s going to be soooo cute!
HI Kathie,
Thanks for your compliments on Lian’s dress even though it’s not finished yet. If you are talking about the pink and black lace up applique, it came from Etsy a few years ago.
I’m going to have to get cookin’ if I get it done tonight!
Thanks again,
blessings, Jeanne
PINK, yes, yes !!! So many cute choices for trims and ribbons. Lian seems to glow in pink so I will be excited to see the finished dress.
I agree with Cindy Rice in her hope that we have a productive week. I certainly need to keep myself and my focus in the sewing room. I am making a sweet embroidered organdy First Communion dress for Caroline Therese. I have decided that next Sunday, May 3rd will be her special day. In 1959 I made my First Communion on May 3rd. It seems sort of fitting to honor that day by making this dress for my girls.
One day, hopefully soon, I will make a dress or outfit that I don’t keep for my girls!!
Of course, tights and leggings are always available.
Hi Jeannie,
Pink is always a good choice, almost for any doll I think! It’s got to be the number one universal color choice for doll dresses!
I think the prettier weather has caused lots of ladies to get in their sewing rooms and make things. I’m kind of pulled…we got garden plants today, and while I’d like to be working in our garden, I feel more like sewing…
I hope you finish your Communion dress in time! Sew, Sew, Sew!
Blessings, Jeanne
That is going to be such a cute dress for Lian. I am thinking pink trim, but your dresses are always so pretty that I’m sure which ever you used will be lovely.
We have sunshine today and I hope you do too..
Good afternoon, Regina,
Thanks for your kind comments on Lian’s “half-finished” dress. I hope I make the right choice with the trims! I guess we’ll see…
We DO have sunshine!
Blessings, Jeanne
