If, by chance, one did happen to find a mystical pot at the end of a rainbow this St. Patrick’s Day, and it contained 1,000 gold coins weighing one ounce each, WalletHub estimated the total current worth at $1.26 million.

There are No Female Leprechauns. If Irish folk tales are to be believed, the mystical beings are expressly male.

The first St. Patrick’s Day celebration took place in America in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1737.

Let’s see what I can come up with in the way of green dresses for St. Patrick’s Day! I’m sure most of you have seen these before, but they are all in one post so I hope you enjoy the “green.”

  1. Happy St. Pat’s to you too, Jeanne! I did pretty well on the quiz, considering I am married to a 2nd generation American born Irishman!! I don’t think there is a drop of Irish blood in me, but I sure do love the way the Irish do St. Patrick’s Day! I love the green dresses, actually, green is my favorite color!

    1. Thanks Linda,
I didn’t know green was your favorite color…and married to an Irishman! Did your hubby take the quiz too?
Thanks for liking my green dresses!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. Okay, Jeanne, lots more dresses that I’ve never seen! What a cute collection of green to start the morning. Little Riley and Bitty Bethany are so sweet. I miss the days when they were all the rage. I would love to knit an embroidered dress for Riley. She’s so tiny that it wouldn’t take too long. Maybe someday…
I got a few of your questions wrong. I didn’t know St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland. Ewww! (not a snake lover) Now I do. Thank you. 🙂
At this end of the state, the river gets dyed green in Chicago and green beer is (was) pretty popular in the bars (pubs). At my age, I’d rather have green tea, as you suggested. Like Linda, I don’t have a drop of Irish blood in me either and I cannot wear green. Maybe I’ll have some green cabbage today to celebrate.
I think you said you were Irish, Jeanne, so have a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

    1. Hi Cindy…sometimes I wish Riley had been more popular before I sold her. I did enjoy sewing for her but she wasn’t a money maker for me.
I missed the snake question too. Ick! Linda can wear green but you can’t…but Talyssa sure can… her dress was adorable!
      Hope your cabbage was good!
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. So many green dresses, but none nearly as wonderful as the second one on the African American (is that proper or should I say on the black doll, I have trouble remembering what is currently correct) American Girl doll. It is just perfect. I’m wondering if Little Darling is big enough to wear something similar. I may try it.

    1. Hi Jevne,
I’m glad you liked Addy’s dress. That particular one was a favorite of mine. I think it was one of my first ones for Addy and I loved how it turned out.
I think the Little Darlings could wear a dress like that. I forget sometimes about making a historical dress for them, but you should try it.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. Happy St Patrick’s Day! I love all the green dresses, my second favorite color. I especially love the first dress on the AG doll..so pretty!! I have Irish on my Dad’s side, thanks for the trivia, I did miss a few of the answers.

    1. HI Regina,
Yes, that first Regency dress was sold on Etsy and disappeared as soon as I listed it. It’s made from a pretty green and cream linen like fabric… really nice!
It was a quiz just for fun, so you don’t have to worry about wrong answers! Aren’t you glad?
      Thanks Regina,
      Blessings, Jeanne

O’ the top of the mornin’ to ya, Jeanne Marie !! Good that you dedicated this fine day to the Irish as to keep the “little people” far and away !!

This day has always been one of the most revered days of the year for me. Born and bred as an Irish lass, granddaughter of Mary Gertrude Flaherty, daughter of Helen Margaret Montague and known as Jeanne Therese Marie Ryan Brandon. I can’t escape the green!! My husband, dear Jack Edward is the grandson’s of Francis & Carrie Belle Murphy of east Texas by way of Frankston, TX arriving by buckboard and old mule from Tennessee.
This is a day to always wear the green!!

I am happy to see so many of your girls wearing of the green on this fine day. We have sunshine today which hopefully is a sign of good luck and fair weather.
I will send a couple of pics to you on email to show St. Patrick riding Ireland of the snakes. Honestly. A huge stained glass window.

    1. HI Jeannie,
Wow… you are Irish through and through, aren’t you! That’s neat!
My hubby and I did some errands today and he wore a green shirt and I wore some olive green pants… just to keep people from pinching us, you know!

I looked at the stained glass window of St. Patrick running out the snakes.. incredible stained glass window! I blew it up on my computer so my hubby could see it.
Since he was born the day before St. Patrick’s Day, his middle name is Patrick!
      Thanks Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne
