If you guessed my fabric and necklace picture from yesterday’s post would be for Caroline, you get a gold star! I turned this…
…into this!
It’s kind of a hard color to describe…it’s not your typical red…it’s not cranberry or hot pink or coral. It’s a color all of its own. Maybe it’s close to raspberry, but not sure. It’s a bit on the pinkish side, but different. I have hundreds of spools of thread and didn’t have a thing this color, so the insides are all done in cream. As I was looking over this post, seeing the color of the dress, I’ve figured out what color it is… now don’t laugh… but it’s the color of Strawberry Banana Jello! I said, “don’t laugh” and I hear some of you…
When Rebecca made the necklace, (before I even thought of the dress) I spotted this fabric and it was a perfect match.
Her bonnet is made from a Keepers Dolly Duds pattern and has the cream vintage lace added to it. I decided to keep this set rather simple so it didn’t fight against the busyness of the fabric. Sometimes simple IS better!
Unlike most Regency dresses that I make, which have a train, this one stops right at the floor. I wanted to add the vintage lace around the hem and it needed to be straight to do that. It has 3 little cream buttons on the bodice that cover hidden snaps.
I think Elizabeth looks beautiful in this… no need for a Caroline doll on this one!
You’ll have to let me know what you think… I’ll switch over the picture at the right side bar when the auction goes on Ebay… Monday evening…
Oh, and don’t forget, Julie’s dress ends Monday evening.
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
I think it looks lovely. I thought it looked like Raspberry, but Strawberry Banana Jello works for me. 🙂
HI Christine,
One of my subscribers emailed me and called the color Razzleberry! So I think that will be my new official color for this… Razzleberry! That sounds so much better than Strawberry Banana Jello!
Thanks Christine,
Blessings, Jeanne
Strawberry banana jello! We all know what that looks like. Jello was a staple in our house growing up.
I was going to say cherry red? Reds are so hard to describe and they are even harder to photograph. You did a great job on the photos and the dress is beautiful, Jeanne. The lace is perfect for the fabric.
Thanks Cindy,
Cherry Red, huh? That might work too! I was in town today and wanted to crack open a 64 Crayola box of crayons to see what they might call the color. I need to get some paint chips and have them on hand for some of my fabric colors…
Thanks for your kind words on the dress.
Blessings, Jeanne
Yay, I get a gold star! Caroline’s dress is just beautiful..I love the color and the pattern of the fabric.
Hi Regina,
Yes, you DO get a gold star!
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne, I had a pretty good idea that the next dress would be for an AG but I did not know which one. I love that deep pinky/red color. The name of that color is “razzleberry”. I know this as my little car is that color and she is know as the “Razzlr”. My super favorite.
The dress for Elizabeth is darling and the bonnet with matching lace adornments is the perfect touch. Again, Rebecca has made the perfect necklace.
Thank you Jeannie,
Razzleberry is my new favorite color now! I won’t forget that!
Thanks for your compliments on Elizabeth’s dress and Rebecca’s necklace. “My” Rebecca is starting a full load at college this semester and I’m really hoping I don’t lose my favorite jewelry maker… I’ll have to bribe her to get necklaces out of her.
Blessings, Jeanne
What a beautiful gown and hat, Jeanne! Love, love, love, the color on Elizabeth! She shows it off so well! I had an idea it might be for Elizabeth, but wasn’t sure.
Is the “real” Rebecca moving to the dorm or staying home? If she’s home, surely you can get a necklace or two once in awhile!
Thanks Linda,
I think my Elizabeth looks good in just about anything…even Razzleberry!
No, Rebecca is still living at home…(she must like us!) I’m with you…hoping she can fit a few in occasionally! It drives her crazy not to be able to make them like she wants to. At one time she even considered quitting her job and just doing necklaces…and I think she could have made a go of it!
Thanks,
Blessings, Jeanne
Well, I guessed wrong. I thought maybe it would be a Victorian dress. Either way, it’s very pretty! I like the name razzleberry for the color–colors can be so subjective, can’t they? It reminds me of the Revlon lipstick called “Cherries in the Snow.”
Hi Carolyn,
It would have made a pretty Victorian dress and I debated about it, but in the end I chose to do a Regency dress. Cindy Rice mentioned a Cherry Red and I’m thinking you both got it right on the color… It definitely is a “cherry” something… Cherries in the snow sounds perfect to me!
Thanks, Jeanne
