The Last of the Christmas Dresses…

I have searched one by one and think I have found the last of my dolls Christmas dress pictures from the archives. I had some that were much older but apparently I deleted them. Some of these pictures go back to 2007…I started in 2006. These final few pictures are of Riley, Katie Effanbee and a few for Kirsten. The year I did these Kirsten Christmas dresses, I was swamped with special orders, and had to eventually stop doing them…but it was fun while it lasted. (Actually it was stressful, but I loved the different dirndl’s I was able to come up with.) I made one Swedish dirndl and it sold…then the person in second place wanted one, so I managed to get it done. Then I can’t remember exactly what happened, but someone ordered the two you see the pictures with the two dolls, and then I sold one more to someone…anyway, it was 5 Kirsten sets in 2 weeks that I made and sold…

Here are a few more oldies… now again, don’t laugh at my photography skills… or lack of skills…

First up is little 7 1/2″ Riley, by Helen Kish, modeling her sweet little red and gold dress and jacket set….

Then we’ve got Katie Effanbee, who is modeling her Snowman dress and holding her star ornament…

Here is Kirsten in one of the dirndl’s I made that busy week…

…followed by 2 more that were similar but not an exact match …

…and then last up is a set that I did for someone… It took a lot of time as it was a new pattern for me and had lots of pieces to put together. I’ll show you a few extra pictures of it…

  1. Jeanne, these are the type of dresses you make so beautifully! They all are timeless and you could have made any of them just yesterday!

Also love the braid crown on Kirsten! My mother used to do my hair like that when I was small. Gee, that seems so German now, even though Kirsten was Swedish. I guess it was an “old country” thing to do—not that I”m old country now! I am pretty much German on both sides, so it made sense I guess!

    1. HI Linda,
Thank you so much for your comment about my dresses being timeless and saying that these types of dresses are what I do so well. It was this comment that has made me stop and think about all my obsessing over Julie. I did put in a bid last night on a Julie doll, but I’m going to stop looking at her and concentrate on the dolls that I have… If I win her, that’s okay but if not that’s okay too.
I always liked Kirsten’s hair up like this and used to do Rebecca’s hair like this too when she was little. I think it’s German, Swedish, Norwegian, etc… it’s just cute! And I’m just as German as you are…with a name like Wiedlocher…
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. I have enjoyed all of your seeing Christmas dresses, Jeanne. You’ve made so many throughout the years. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Hope you are catching up on lost sleep.

    1. HI Cindy,
I have 3 more dresses that I want to get done before I quit for the year…I’m hoping I make it! I might be a little sleep deprived, but I’ll catch up sometime… in the future.

I double checked to see if I had in fact subscribed as a follower to your blog posts and it said I had already done it… I’ll have to see if it does it the next time, but last night I went to your website and saw a whole bunch of new things that I didn’t know you had made. I just LOVE those little capelets that you knit for your dolls. They are so delicate and I especially love how the embroidered holly leaves and details just seem to lay on the top of your knitting… They look like they’d only weigh as much as a feather… so beautiful Cindy!

Well, I’m off to get my Civil War dress started…
      Blessings, Jeanne
