Our first American Girl doll….

I remember when Rebecca was 9 years old, how much she wanted an American Girl doll…one that looked like her; red hair and brown eyes. My family chipped in and put money toward getting her that doll. It was so cute as she’d look at the boxes under the tree, but didn’t see anything that was the size of the dolls. You could see the disappointment or even concern on her face. But we were smart…we kept it a secret from her till the very last present of that Christmas. You can see her reaction as she got a big box, slowly opening, trying not to be too anxious, but desperately hoping it was her doll! It was!!

“Look, I got her!!!”

That was a priceless moment for all of us that year!

See you tomorrow,

  1. What a wonderful morning that must have been for Rebecca! My goodness, she has gorgeous red hair, where is that from, Jeanne? What does she think of the new #61 doll with the new red hair? Oh, forgot, she isn’t 9 anymore!!
By the time Pleasant Company made an appearance, my daughter was already in high school, so I didn’t get to have fun with AG dolls until my granddaughters received them—–from me! Between the 3 of us, we now have 16 dolls now!

    1. Hi Linda,
It truly was a moment to remember for all of us. It was such a fun surprise for Rebecca. My mom had red hair when she was younger and “she” claims Rebecca’s red hair and my son’s red hair came from her! Rebecca isn’t the least bit interested in dolls now… she’s 24, remember! She does like making necklaces for them though.
You must have fun playing dolls with your granddaughters! Wow…16 dolls …what memories you must be making.
      Thanks Linda,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. How exciting for Rebecca to receive not only an AMG doll but one that was just like her. Love Rebecca’s red hair. She is a cutie. Does she still have her dollie? What a fun Christmas that must have been when she realized she did get an AMG doll. I have never seen that outfit on the AMG doll. They must have had many different types of outfits.
Enjoyed seeing your Charlie Brown Christmas tree pictures too.
    Blessings!

    1. Hi Paula,
Rebecca still has her red hair…maybe not quite as vivid red as that, but pretty red! She doesn’t have her AG doll anymore. She wanted me to sell it for her to use the money for college… so I did. It used to be that you could pick the hair style, the hair color, the skin color and the eye color… now the dolls are set and you can get lots of combinations, but not quite like you could years ago.
      Thanks Paula,
      Blessings, Jeanne

Jeanne, I am sure you heard, “this is the best Christmas ever”!! Your daughter, Rebecca is darling with her red hair and sweet smile. She had her dreams come true when she received that beautiful American Girl doll!!

    1. Hi Jeannie,
Yes, we did hear that… “This is the best Christmas ever!” Her cousin, Molly, had gotten her American Girl Molly doll in April, because Molly’s birthday and the Molly doll’s birthday was on April 22. It was a no brainer that Molly had to have that Molly doll. So Rebecca and her cousin were able to play with their dolls together after that. You can see Molly’s Molly doll in the picture laying on the couch.
      Thanks Jeannie,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  4. I think we have 6 or 7 American Girl Dolls between the granddaughters. The youngest one Elizabeth absolutely doesn’t make a move without her Kelsey. Kelsey got a Diner for Christmas…cutest thing ever….the doll sits at the counter..has a stools, juke box and all the accessories. I’ve bought the Dolly and me clothes from that zulily site for such bargain prices and the clothes are darling and well made. EX: Kohls had them for 50% off which was 32.00…I had gotten them on Zulily for 15.00.

  5. Have you ever made it to the sale of (what used to be -I think- blemished) dolls in the summer in Wisconsin? That’s how we obtained my oldest daughter’s doll – a couple of my sisters went to it. In THOSE days, it was in the next small town over from where I grew up. I really can’t remember how much she cost. Now, the sale is a major event that supports the Madison Children’s Museum.
