My hubby and I host 2 parties a year for the Married Couples at our church…one for Valentine’s Day and one for Christmas. Thursday evening was our Christmas party and we had a group of 19 couples which turned out to be the perfect number of couples to have a really fun time!! Wish you all could have been there! We had it at a local Chinese Restaurant because they let us have the banquet room in the back and we can be “rowdy” if we like… This was my 20th Christmas party to host and I always try to come up with something different each year. Sometimes it’s a skit, sometimes it’s a race by tables to do something, sometimes we do paper games, but most of all we just have LOADS of fun getting together and visiting.
I had an idea for a game this year that I wanted to be something like “Family Feud”… you know where they face off against each other and have to slap down a buzzer and be the first to answer the question. I had 2 tap lights ( the kind that you just push and they come on) set a little higher than table height and drew out the names of 2 couples to face off against each other. I had about 45 Christmas Trivia questions and as I pulled them out of the bag and read them, the couples had to see who knew the answer. If they knew the answer they got to pick a prize from the table of gifts that each couple had brought. If they didn’t answer correctly, the other couple got a chance to hear the question again and then try a shot at the answer. If they happened to miss it, both couples sat down and I drew out 2 more names… Fairly quickly we went through the questions, some couples coming and going…some coming back again and again. It was so much fun and we laughed our heads off…
I only took a few pictures because I was so busy with the party…and they are P-R-E-T-T-Y pathetic! This was the stash of gifts they could choose from…
…and my favor bags with my Chocolate Mint Cookie Bark inside…(see post for recipe HERE.) Everyone got into their treat bags while we were waiting for our food.

Jeanne, oh my, this morning we had so much fun answering this questions!! I had to ask Jack if his brain was awake enough to answer some questions. He aligned himself in his chair, took a slug of coffee and off we went. Right away I was serenaded by a faux Elvis, in Blue Christmas! Way too early to listen to that!! He did really well until we got to the question about how many points on a snowflake. His answer was way off and I said to him, “answered like a true Texas boy”. In all, he did very well on the questions, much better than my answers.
Your party planning sounds like real fun and I applaud your dedication to continuing such leadership for all these years!!
Thank you Jeannie AND hubby for playing along with my game…
We did have lots of fun and there were quite a few stumpers in the lot of questions I asked, so don’t feel bad. I just thought it would be fun to share some of the trivia with my readers. Glad it made your coffee time a little fun-ner!
Blessings, Jeanne
What fun your couple’s party was! You are so creative and I am sure you worked very hard to pull it together. The snowflake points threw me- I was thinking of a low number but the thought of “no two snowflakes are the same?” came to mind so thought there might be multiple answers below 8 at least? Had no idea it is six. Good questions! What fun that we readers get to play too!
Blessings, Paula
Hi Paula,
I’m glad you had fun with the trivia questions… it was a lot of fun watching the couples try to outguess each other. We were laughing so hard… Now it’s time to start thinking about my Valentine’s Party… but first a few more dresses! I think Civil War is up next…
Did you get your new girl yet?
Blessings, Jeanne
Yaaaaayyyyyyy!!!!!! Gettin’ in position for the Civil War dress race!! You betcha!! Savannah didn’t come yet but it’s estimated she will arrive today. Today I’m working on projects near the front door, watching for the mailman and Savannah’s arrival!
She will be so happy to get out of that dreadful pink AMG meet outfit…especially if she knows she might be getting a new and gorgeous Jeanne Marie dress. No pressure gettin’ that dress done now…LOL.
Get a cup of hot chocolate and stay warm!
Hi again Paula,
I know what you mean by “working by the front door” as I’ve done that many a time too…it seems like the mailman is always LATE on those days though… Hope she’s everything you thought she would be… I bet she is…
Blessings, Jeanne
Sorry for the late reply, Jeanne, got busy first thing and didn’t settle down with my laptop until the afternoon. About Julie…my daughter and she said that her hair was very easy to work with into braids or a bun. I think she has nine dolls and Julie’s hair feels a lot finer and silkier than some of the others with curl or a wave.
I don’t think that I’ve been getting enough vitamin C. Maybe I should munch of a few Christmas tree needles. LOL!
