Skinny Scarf Tying Tutorial…and an Antique China Doll revealed…

Yesterday I featured some Skinny Scarves that were listed in our Etsy shop for the American Girl dolls…(here). A few ladies mentioned they weren’t that good at tying scarves for themselves or their dolls, so I thought I’d show you 2 of the simplest ways to do it. I’ve also added an illustrated guide to help you in case you can’t figure it out from my pictures.

First is the European Loop…super simple but my favorite way to wear these yarn scarves. (sorry I did my scarf the opposite way shown in the illustration)

Here is the BT Standard way… I hope this helps…

Just keep trying… you’ll get it figured out!

I also added 4 new chunky ladies scarves in our Etsy shop. You might want to check them out… several of them are like the American Girl doll scarves. Hey, you and your doll could match!!

I also received a fun package in the mail from one of my blog subscribers! Kathie sent me some left over fabric that she used when redressing an antique doll for someone. It’s the neatest fabric… she thinks it’s silk. I just know it’s fun to touch. The black design is raised up like it’s flocked.

Kathie worked so hard and beautifully on the dress and repairing the dolls body, that I wanted to show you what she did and how it turned out.

Well done Kathie! Doesn’t this dress just look perfect on her doll?

See you tomorrow,

  1. OH, thank your the tutorial, Jeanne! Now, the first one, I just recently learned, yes, I am a slow learner! The second one is a new one for me, but I think I can manage it! Thank you!

Oh, that dress on that doll—–perfect!

    1. Hi Linda,
You aren’t the only one who is “scarf tying challenged…” I’m not the best at it either, but if you google “scarf tying” there are lots of ways to do it!
      Thanks for reading,
      Blessings, Jeanne

  2. The doll is beautifully done! Time and patience there.
The fabric is awesome. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Now those scarves are terrific. Scarf tying is an art for sure and they add so much to the look of an outfit. Thank you for the ideas!

    1. Hi Jeannie,
I’m still trying to decide what to do with this fabric….it’s so unusual and I don’t want to make a mistake…
Isn’t it just perfect on that doll? I think it’s adorable.
      Blessings, Jeanne

  3. Oh gosh, that first sentence I wrote! I was on a laptop and it is not easy for me on that. My hubby was working on my desktop, so I have no idea how that first sentence came out like that!! I think a few words were left out accidently! Sorry!

  4. Linda,
I hadn’t noticed it until you pointed it out… I had to look back at your post to see what you were talking about… just consider that your “mistake for the day”… now you can carry on!
    Blessings, Jeanne

  5. Thanks for putting the pics of Miss China Head on your blog! Can’t wait to give her back to the original owner…it was her Grandma’s doll. .I had to turn her hand and move the buttons ..It’s funny how things will show up in a picture differently..I swear I had those buttons in the center!

Thanks again for the scarf lesson!

  6. I look forward to reading your posts each morning! Every post starts my day with such hope and inspiration! Your work is beautiful! Today was a nice trip down memory lane with the post of the clothes you designed. I had clothes like that (polyester pants and all!) 🙂 I could have gone anywhere with that collection. Thanks so much for sharing such positive thoughts each morning!!
