How about a few brown print dresses?

As I was looking through some pictures today, I noticed a fair amount of them were featuring dresses made from brown prints. Brown paired with red or pink as part of the print design is one of my very favorites. I think you’ll be able to tell that when you see the pictures of the dresses I’ve put together for today’s post. I also think you’ll be able to tell that the Civil War dresses win out for the most brown designs! Hope you enjoy the picture show.

    1. Hi Dorothy,
Thanks so much for your kind words. I almost hesitated in posting pictures of “brown” dresses because I thought they might be too drab… but apparently they are well received. I’ve gotten several comments and several emails letting me know they are lovely! So thanks for your input.

  1. So pretty…as always!!! Thanks for sharing your lovely dresses with us, Jeanne. It is probably so much easier adding all of the ruffles, piping, lace edging, bands, etc. to the larger American Girl dolls, no? (and…you can pin fit right on their bodies…ouch)

    1. HI Cindy,
You bet it’s easier to make dresses for the AG dolls… especially compared to the tiny little things you do! Is the littlest doll you knit for 4″ tall? I think I remembered her being that little… that is insanely tiny.

      1. Yes, Amelia Thimble is 4″ and quite narrow. Fairyland Pukipuki isn’t much larger in height, but has is wider in width. I find it easier to knit for smaller dolls as opposed to sewing. There are no clunky seam allowances to add bulk.

        1. Cindy,
You do such wonderful work with knitting needles… I’m glad we all have different talents, so we can ooohhhh and aaaahhh each others work.

  2. Jeanne Marie, I found it very hard to actually pick my favorite. They are all absolutely wonderful ! I don’t use brown very often but this blog has changed my mind. It is time to broaden my scope!!

    1. Hi Jeannie,
So glad you are coming around to using brown fabrics now… you’ll find lots of pretty browns now that it’s getting cooler. Most dolls can wear some shade of brown if you find the right tones for their skin. I bet the next time you’re at the fabric store, you find yourself in the “brown” section…

  3. Lovely! It may sound strange, but I love shades of brown. It pairs so well with many other colors. I just love it! All of these outfits are pure perfection!

    1. Thank you Carolyn,
I am a “winter” but I love brown tones. They are so homey and warm when used in your home especially.
      Thanks for the compliments.
      Blessings, Jeanne
