I really should have been sewing today, but I wanted to play…and play I did! I was trying to get the yarns that we use to make our Skinny Scarves organized.
We have a few ladies scarves listed in our Etsy shop and last night I made 4 new ones in pretty Fall colors. I will get them added in our shop soon. But today I was busy creating some scarves for the American Girl dolls. I looked on Etsy and didn’t see anything that caught my eye, so I got busy and made some like our ladies scarves.
These are really stylish around your dolls necks and it was fun doing a variety of colors, some braided, some not. Here is one picture of each of the scarves I made. They look a little “flat” in my pictures for some reason. In person, they are really a fun accessory and look like the real thing a young girl would wear. Hope you’ll take a peek in our Etsy shop when you get done with this post. You can click on the Etsy Icon on the right side bar just below “Connect with me.”
Do you remember my post about the black and gray Civil War dress that was listed on Ebay just a few days ago? (here) Well, the lady who won it sent me the most wonderfully creative story today and it was just too good to keep to myself. It was so much fun to read and I was truly blessed more than she’ll ever know.
A Short Story:
Elise walked hurriedly down the main hallway to answer the sound of the bell ringing at the front door. Upon opening it, a young man stood on the steps holding a large white box secured with white string. He bowed and held the box out for the young maid to receive. “A delivery for Madame Julienne LaPomeret.” he said. Elise smiled and clasped her hands together with excitement as she recognized the flaired signature of the name scrolled across the top of the box, “Madame Jeanne Marie’s House of Fashion”. It was the much anticipated black print dress designed exclusively for Miss Cherry Christiane! After thanking the young man and taking the box, Elise closed the door, returned to the parlor and announced the delivery to Madame LaPomeret.
Moments later, both women stood at the bottom of the white staircase looking up. Julienne called to her daughter. “C’est la robe! C’est la robe! Il est here!” Cherry came to the top of the stairs smiling and descended as quickly as she could. “Oh Mere’, je suis very excited.”
All three stood around the box as Julienne cut the string and carefully lifted the lid. Together they let out a gasp of exclamation as the white tissue was pulled back exposing the dress. They began talking all at once, touching the soft material. Julienne pulled the dress out, “Ooh, c’est beautiful. And look at the bonnet she proclaimed, “C’est magnificent! The detail of the petticoat and pantalettes was not overlooked in the
slightest by the three as Elise held the garments. Looking at Cherry, Julienne smiled and proclaimed, “Madame Jeanne Marie has once again created the most en vogue fashion for you, mon cherie. You shall enjoy wearing this and being the most talked about young lady in fashion during our grand journey to New Orleans this fall.”
Isn’t that fun? I loved it! Thank you_____!
See you tomorrow,
Blessings, Jeanne
Jeanne,
Love those scarves for the dolls AND people! I am not really good at wrapping them around, so want to know just how you do it to make it look so good. Do you have some sort of “method”?
Hi Linda,
Oh….it’s so easy to do this scarf thingy… maybe I’ll show it in tomorrow’s post. You’ll laugh when you see how easy it is.
Blessings, Jeanne
Those are really cute scarves for American Girl dolls. What fun! (That little lace tee their wearing looks pretty cute too.)
Thanks for sharing the sweet story with us from your customer. That was so nice of her to write it to accompany your outfit. Don’t you love hearing from customers?
HI Cindy,
Actually I’m laughing at your comment about the little lace tee. Since I sew for my dolls and sell everything I make, I didn’t have any clothes for them to wear to show off the scarves. So I just took a roll of stretch lace that I use for my fingerless doll gloves and wrapped it around my dolls. Then I used a piece of denim for the skirt. Viola… instant outfit… at least for pictures.
Wasn’t that the neatest story. I loved it.
Thanks Cindy,
Blessings, Jeanne
